Rico Gomez was born and raised in Denver. He attended DPS’ Denison Montessori School and then was part of Kunsmiller Creative Arts Academy’s (KCAA) first graduating class, where he earned a CTE certificate in Graphic Design and was a student leader in the inaugural Student Board of Education. A first-gen graduate of Regis University, Rico earned a degree in Business Management and Marketing while serving as the Regis University Student Government Association President.
Before CEC, Rico designed a Social Justice program at a KIPP Colorado high school. He coached a team of teachers to expand the program to ultimately include Ethnic and Gender Studies, Social Entrepreneurship, AP Seminar, and AP Research Courses. He also helped found and coached the school’s Student Board of Education – a multi-functional, student-led organization that worked on policy development, school programming, and school culture. Rico’s prior education roles include work at DSST Public Schools and Denver Public Schools’ CareerConnect. He earned a Master’s in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education.
