Maria Gordon teaches cybersecurity at CEC. She was born and raised in Indiana and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation from her hometown college, Indiana State University. During her Junior year at ISU, she won a work-study scholarship to attend Semester at Sea. While on Semester at Sea, she visited nine countries and eventually followed her newly-found passion for travel and visited forty-five countries and forty-five States. Her personal goal is to visit fifty countries and fifty states. After graduation, she used her recreation degree by working as a cruise hostess in Alaska. While on the ship, she led the children’s program and enjoyed working with children so much that she decided to return to Indiana State to earn another BS degree in Elementary Education. While working as an elementary teacher and computer committee chairperson in Florida, she decided to become a computer teacher. Next, Maria graduated with a Masters of Science degree from Nova Southeastern University and worked as a computer teacher at International and American schools in Turkey, Russia, Hong Kong, and Thailand. In 2003, eHarmony matched with her husband and she moved to Colorado in 2004. While in Denver, she earned a Master of Arts degree in School Librarian and Instructional Technologies and also worked as a K-12 Teacher Librarian, high school CTE computer science teacher, and a computer science/STEM teacher in a middle school.

When not teaching, she enjoys attending baseball games, traveling, binge-watching movies and TV shows, hiking, and cooking. Mrs. Gordon is excited to become a part of the CEC community!
