Jamie Youngblood (she/her/hers) began her career in special education over 20 years ago doing applied behavior analysis with students on the autism spectrum in Brooklyn, NY. She continued her employment journey working as a special education teacher at a Career and Technical Education High School in the Bronx, a transition program coordinator at Cerebral Palsy of Colorado, and in Denver Public Schools has worked as a special education teacher and reading intervention teacher at North High School, a case manager for DPS 18-21 services, and a special education specialist with the DPS Transition Services team where she created programming to support employment opportunities, connections to community agencies, and access to college. Jamie completed her undergraduate degree at Hunter College and MSU Denver and her Master’s of Science in Urban Education at Mercy College in NYC. She has been an active member of the Colorado Department of Education’s Special Education Transition Taskforce since 2018 and has a passion for supporting students with accessing their postsecondary goals upon their exit from high school. She strongly believes that all students can thrive after high school and that creating a network of support prior to exiting high school can be an invaluable first step to accessing success in employment, higher education and training, and with living independently within the community. Outside of work, Jamie enjoys traveling, climbing, hiking, judging for USA Climbing competitions, and spending time doing just about anything with her friends and family.
