Derrek Sandoval is a Denver native, a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, and a Denver Scholarship Foundation (DSF) Alumnus. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Adolescent Development. Derrek’s passion for college access stems from navigating the college process as the first traditional college student in his family. As a male of color, he strives to empower students who find themselves in similar situations and believes it is vital to educate students, families, and the community about the importance of higher education. Additionally, Derrek values quality relationships, equity, and learning. His favorite part about working with DSF is challenging students to grow and become advocates for their education.
