Bard Hovenga was born in Aurora and grew up in Colorado Springs. He studied psychology at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and worked as a Behavior Analysis Specialist at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. After earning a master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, he worked for nine years as a high school Special Education and English teacher within the New York City Department of Education. He likes running, reading, writing, art, Colorado sports teams, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and dogs. He is passionate about critical pedagogy and excited to continue his educational career at CEC.
