Greetings CEC Community,
I want to share with you my thoughts about our mission at CEC in regards to recent events and their impact on our community here at CEC. We serve a very diverse group of students, that come from many different parts of DPS. The vast majority of our students are students of color and many are Latino. Many of our students and their families have migrated to the United States in search of a better life and future for their children. My family and many of our students families have dealt with corruption, violence and oppression that have caused our families to leave their homes in search for a better future. Our community believes in the hope of the US, a better life for our children, where they have an opportunity to learn and prosper and we can provide for our families. Undoubtly, recent events are traumatic and de-stabalizing for our students in a country that they count upon for stability. This can be magnified by trauma. A core value that I hold for our community is equity, in that we have the ability to collaborate with our families to empower our children through education. Our mission at CEC is that 100% of our students succeed as we guide them in real-world college and career experiences. I see our educators at CEC show up for this mission and challenge everyday. Today, we will guide our students through unstable times, in the real world and they will look to us for stability. Today, we will take time with students to give them space to reflect, talk with teachers or their peers, journal and ask questions within a restorative framework where we listen to understand with empathy and create a safe environment for all of our students. We will have our support staff on call and I want all of our students to know today how much we care for them and we are all here to support them. Our teachers are on a personal mission to empower our students through career and college success. I believe in our students and know that we are all here for each other. We are family.

Saludos familias de CEC,
Quiero compartir con ustedes mis pensamientos sobre nuestra misión en CEC con respecto a los eventos recientes y su impacto en nuestra comunidad aquí en CEC. Servimos a un grupo muy diverso de estudiantes, que provienen de diferentes partes de las escuelas publicas de Denver. La mayoría de nuestros estudiantes son estudiantes de color y muchos son latinos. Muchos de nuestros estudiantes y sus familias han migrado a los Estados Unidos en busqueda de una vida mejor y un futuro para sus hijos. Mi familia y muchas de las familias de nuestros estudiantes tienen experiencia con la corrupción, violencia y opresión. Nuestra comunidad cree en la esperanza de Estados Unidos, de una vida mejor para criar a nuestros hijos, donde tengan la oportunidad de aprender, prosperar y mantener a nuestras familias. Sin duda, los eventos recientes pueden ser traumáticas. Aun, nuestros estudiantes y familias ven la educación como una oportunidad para triunfar aqui. Un valor fundamental que tengo para nuestra comunidad es la equidad. Nuestra misión en CEC es el éxito del 100% de nuestros estudiantes en la universidad, del mundo real y experiencias profesionales. Nuestros maestros se presentan para esta misión todos los días. Hoy, guiaremos a nuestros estudiantes a través de tiempos inestables y ellos buscarán estabilidad en nosotros. Hoy, vamos a tomar un tiempo con los estudiantes para darles espacio de pensar, hablar con los maestros o sus compañeros, escribir en diario y hacer preguntas dentro de una manera restaurativa donde escuchamos para comprender y crear un ambiente seguro para ellos. Estamos aquí para sus necesidades. Quiero que todos nuestros estudiantes sepan hoy cuánto los queremos y que todos estamos aquí para apoyarlos.
