Letter From the Principal

Dear CEC Family and Friends:

It is hard to believe that we are almost two-thirds of the way through our school year! Many exciting events will happen between now and the end of the year, most notably graduation for the Class of 2020 on Thursday, May 28!

I am looking forward to graduation with mixed emotions. I am so excited for the graduates and their families-the future is bright for them. I am sad though, because this will be my last graduation, and my last year in the Denver Public Schools. After thirty-one years in education, I have decided to retire at the end of this school year.

I have much to be thankful for. DPS and CEC have treated me well. I hope you find I have done the same.

Finally, I would like to share that our Regional Instructional Superintendent, Nicole Veltzé, will lead the principal selection process for CEC. Ms. Veltzé will work closely with our Collaborative School Committee (CSC) regarding the timeline for the principal selection process in the coming weeks. She will work with our Collaborative School Committee to make sure a successor is in place with plenty of time to work on a transition with me. Please expect an update from her by no later than February 27th.

Thank you for all the support you have given to me during my time at CEC. I am a better person for having worked at our school and having served our students.

Estimadas familias y amigos de CEC:

Cuesta creer que ya han pasado dos tercios del año escolar. De aquí a finales de año tendrán lugar muchos eventos emocionantes, sobre todo, la graduación de la Generación de 2020 el jueves, 28 de mayo.

Tengo muchas ganas de que llegue la graduación, aunque con sentimientos encontrados. Me hace ilusión por los graduados y sus familias: les espera un futuro brillante. Sin embargo, me entristece porque será mi última graduación y mi último año en las Escuelas Públicas de Denver. Tras treinta y un años en la educación, he decidido jubilarme a finales del presente año escolar.

Tengo mucho por lo que dar las gracias. DPS y CEC me han tratado bien. Espero que sientan que he hecho lo mismo.

Por último, quisiera compartir que nuestra superintendente de instrucción regional, Nicole Veltzé, liderará el proceso de selección del director de CEC. La Srta. Veltzé trabajará estrechamente con nuestro Comité Escolar de Colaboración (CSC) con respecto al cronograma del proceso de selección del director en las próximas semanas. Trabajará con el Comité Escolar de Colaboración para garantizar que haya un sucesor que disponga de mucho tiempo para colaborar conmigo durante la transición. Esperen una actualización de su parte, a más tardar, el 27 de febrero.

Gracias por el apoyo que me han mostrado durante mi trayectoria en CEC. Soy mejor persona por haber trabajado en nuestra escuela y haber servido a nuestros estudiantes.
