Hello!  My name is Mr. Strand and I teach Language Arts.  I decided to become a teacher because I’ve seen and experienced how education can improve someone’s life, and I’ve also seen what happens when a person throws their education away.  My job is to help you be successful in your life by giving you some tools you’ll need for adulthood. I encourage you to keep an open mind and apply yourself the best you can in class if you do those two things you’ll leave my class better than when you started it.  We’re in this together, I will never purposefully embarrass or disrespect you, and I’ll expect the same thing in return. Let me tell you a little about who I am outside of the classroom. I was born and raised in Colorado and have lived here my whole life, except for about 6 years I spent in California between 24-30.  I have a long-term girlfriend and we live right here in North Denver so I might bump into you at Target or King Soopers, don’t make it weird. J/K. I’ve been an anxious person (anxiety) as long as I can remember, and the best way I’ve found to manage it is through exercise, so I like to run, bike, lift, all that good stuff.  I also have an old motorcycle I’m addicted to. I was kind of a shy kid and remember being intimidated by my teachers, even the good, friendly ones. I hope you won’t see me like that, and please don’t hesitate to come by to chit chat, ask me questions, or talk about your favorite mumble rapper. I’m looking forward to our work together.
